Installation FAQ's
Installs
* Make sure someone 18yrs or older is on site for the install appointment and is able to make decisions if unforeseen circumstances should arise. Once the install has begun, the responsible party will not be able to leave the site until the install has been completed
*You may observe the installer working while they install your door but please do not interfere with their work or be in the immediate install area
* Make sure that the area around the door(s) to be installed is free from clutter and accessible to the CNN installer
* Make sure children and pets are away from the area where the install will take place
*If it is Spring/Summer, please make sure the grass is mowed and that there are no tree/bushes overgrown in the area of the install. Our installers will not wade through tall grass or fight bushes to complete your install
* If it is Winter, make sure that a clear path is available to the installer to access your doors. If icy, make sure sand or ice melt has been put down for safety
* If you have pets, PLEASE make sure that all pet waste is cleaned up in areas where the installer may need to go. If pet waste isn't cleaned up in an area, the installer will not be able to install your door for health and safety reasons
* Please be sure to keep your appointment. Failure to do so may result in a missed appointment fee
* You must have power accessible to the area where the installer will be working
* A bathroom facility must be available for the installer during the install
*A 6 foot area around the interior and exterior must be cleared of items so that the installers have a safe area to perform your installation
* All breakable items need to be removed from the area prior to the install. Pictures, clocks, etc need to be removed from walls in the install area
* After your measure is completed, you will go into the store and pick out your door(s), go over the materials and labor, and pay for your project through The Home Depot
* After your project is paid for, the installation paperwork will be sent to CNN electronically. Once received, CNN will review the paperwork for accuracy
* Once it is determined that all of your order has been processed correctly and CNN is notified by The Home Depot that your door(s) and materials are ready at the store, CNN will call to schedule an installation date with you
* On the day of your installation, the installer will pick up all of your merchandise from the store, deliver it to the site, have you inspect your doors to ensure that they are what you ordered and are not damaged, and install your merchandise. The CNN installer will go over a "Pre Inspection" form with you saying that you have inspected the door(s) for damage, correct color, style, etc, and have you initial the boxes on the form giving them permission to proceed with your installation
* When the installer is done, they will broom clean the area. Areas that are wet or have snow ice may not be able to be completely cleaned from saw dust
* The installer will then walk you through the install to have you check the operation of your door(s), provide you with any documentation your doors may have come with, and to have you sign the paperwork for your project. The CNN installer will go over a "Post Inspection" form with you saying that you have inspected the door(s) for damage, workmanship, proper operation, etc, and have you initial the boxes on the form indicating that you are satisfied with your installation. If you have identified areas of workmanship you are NOT happy with, please point them out to the CNN installer and have them rework the identified areas to your satisfaction
* Be sure to check the operation of all locks, ensuring proper operation. If they are not working to your satisfaction, let the installer know and he will adjust them prior to your signing the paperwork. Make sure you have the keys for your new locks, both handle set, deadbolt, and storm door lock(If applicable) New locksets typically come with 2 keys for each lock
If you have purchased an electronic style handle set or deadbolt, the CNN installer will install them for you the same as any other hardware but you are responsible for setting your codes or any other programming.
* During the installation process, there will be dust. This is unavoidable. Neither CNN nor the installer are responsible for this. You made need to dust the immediate area surrounding new door(s) after the installation is completed
* All workmanship is warrantied by CNN through The Home Depot for a period of one year
*Rot Repair is a service provided by CNN outside of The Home Depot installation. We offer this service so that we can quickly and efficiently complete your install, without the hassle of you having to stop mid installation while you find another contractor to repair the rot before we install your door. Sometimes rot is visible from the exterior and we know it will need to be dealt with, and other times it's hiding under the door and cannot be seen until the door is removed from the opening.
Costs for rot repair labor are in addition to anything you may have paid to The Home Depot for your installation. Our installer will show you the rot that is to be repaired, call in a list of materials to our office(if they haven't already been accounted for on the original measure), have you call the CNN office to make payment arrangements, go pick up the materials, repair the rot, and complete your installation
*Electrical work is not something CNN is permitted to do by The Home Depot as part of your installation. If any electrical work is required as part of your installation, you will be required to do that work yourself, or hire a licensed electrician. CNN will do their very best to lay out any known electrical issues in your measure so that you know what needs to be done prior to your install date
*Alarms cannot be touched by CNN as part of your installation. If you have any type of alarm systems, you are responsible for having them disconnected prior to your install date. All alarm components must be removed from door jambs, slabs, and trim. You are responsible for reconnection of alarms after install is completed. CNN will drill hole in door jambs for wire to be pulled through in same location as previous door. CNN is prohibited by The Home Depot from removing or installing any alarm components, other than pulling through the wire to make it accessible for hook up by you or your alarm company. This applies to both wired and wireless alarm systems. If any alarms are not removed when installers arrive for your installation, a lost day fee will be assessed and the job will need to be rescheduled for a later date. Even if an alarm system is not working or used you must remove the components prior to you installation date. CNN can bury the wires behind the new trim work if you do not plan on hooking up the alarm again
*There are occasions where your new door will be smaller than your existing door due to the sizes available in the style you chose or differences in the more modern manufacture of doors. This may mean that direct replacement trim sizes will not cover the paint/wallpaper lines left when the old trim was removed. CNN is not responsible for trim work not covering existing paint/wallpaper lines or for any touchup painting required. Paint/Stain services are not part of The Home Depot installation, nor are they offered by CNN
*Difficult Access situations. These may include, but are not limited to: Narrow staircases, inside porches with small access doors, balconies, decks with no stairs on the outside, elevator access in apartment buildings, long walks from parking area to installation area. An additional fee will apply to all jobs where a difficult access situation is present. If you have multiple doors being installed, you only pay one fee for the entire job, not for each door
*Vertical Blinds will need to be removed prior to your installation date. If the hardware is mounted to the wall and not the interior trim, then it can remain in place and just the blind/curtain can be removed from it's clips. If the hardware is mounted to the interior trim, then all of the hardware needs to be removed from the trim. If there are tie backs for curtains mounted to the interior trim, those should be removed as well. CNN is not responsible for reinstalling the vertical blinds when install is complete. In certain special circumstances, CNN may be able to remove/reinstall your vertical blinds for an additional fee
